About UsRathcor National School is a co-educational school, located in the Cooley Peninsula, Co. Louth.
We have three mainstream class teachers, one learning support teacher, and one SNA (Special Needs Assistant). Our secretary is available in the office every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The school caters for the full range of classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. SCHOOL NEWS6th Class GraduationOn Monday 22nd June we celebrated our 6th class students. Our Graduation ceremony is always a bittersweet moment, we are happy for our students as they progress to secondary school but we will miss their presence in Rathcor NS. Our 6th class boys and girls have been amazing students during their time in Rathcor, kind, courteous, polite and caring, a great example to the younger students who looked up to them. We will miss you all greatly but we wish you every success in your future endeavors, we know you will succeed at whatever you put your mind to.
Huge thank you to Ciaran and Sarah from Crown Decorating Centre Dundalk for their very generous donation of paint for our school boundary wall, we couldn't be more grateful. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated by us all.
Remember - WOW (Walk on Wednesdays), COW( Cycle on Wednesday) and SOW (Scoot on Wednesday continue every Wednesday. Remember 'Cycle, carpool or walk to school instead of burning fossil fuel'. |
School HoursClasses commence for all pupils at 09:20 sharp. Our Junior & Senior Infant pupils finish at 14:00, and pupils in First Class - Sixth Class finish at 15:00.
Office Opening Times
Champions, Champions, ChampionsFor the first time in our school's history, our school boys team has won the Cumann na mBunscol Corn Mhic an Ghirr. Our boys team, which features students from 4th, 5th and 6th Class competed in the final on Tuesday last, the 16th June and they were tremendous. They played Dillonstown NS and after a very skillful display of football were crowned the victors. The boys played great as a team and their sportsmanship and behaviour on the field was outstanding. The team got great support from staff, parents, families and the wider community and are greatly appreciative of all who came out to cheer for them on the day and who greeted them on their return to Rathcor afterwards. They boys were rewarded with ice-cream kindly sponsored by our local Costcutter at Martins, Riverstown and were given a guard of honor from the local Cooley Kickhams men's senior team on their arrival back to the peninsula. It's a day that won't be forgotten for a long time.
